About the Olallie
A lot of modern bikes are designed by corporate committees. The Olallie was designed by Jason. It’s the product of two simple goals: he wanted to create a bicycle that's adapted well to most kinds of riding and relatively easy to work on.
What makes it easy? Like most steel bikes it has external cable routing. Despite its massive tire clearance, the frame also has a normal BSA shell. Other talking points are that it features a 44mm headtube, standard axle spacing (11/142), is UDH compatible, and dropper post integrated. You won’t have to upgrade with hard to find proprietary parts, and in the modern world of bikes that’s a huge deal.
Most things play nice and easy with this frame, because a bike that's easy to keep running is a reliable one and all our favorite bikes are ready to go out the door as soon as we grab them. We are confused by how the bike industry keeps changing things to make ease of use less common. I guess we should be thanking internally routed cockpits and insane press fit standards for the motivation to make our cool thing.
Nitty Gritty:
-
Brake Standard: Flat Mount Disc
-
Axle Standard: 12mm 100/142
-
Mounting Options: Bosses for water bottles, fenders, racks, and whatever else you're hauling.
-
Geometry: Nimble handling with comfortable positioning and higher stack height
-
Sizes: S, M, L, XL available for this first production run
-
Tire Clearance: 700c x 48mm or 650b x 2.3". Fender clearance varies across models, but fits easily around a 700 x 40 or 27.5 x 2’’
-
Bottom Bracket: 68 BSA
-
Drivetrain: UDH compatible. Clears road Q-factors and works well with adapted MTB cranks.
-
Fork Options: Custom steel fork or upgrade to Enve Adventure fork. Note, the steel Olallie fork will be slightly different than the above photos.
-
Finish Options: Powder coat or Cerakote, with fork painted to match
- Please note: The Olallie is not Di2 compatible without modification.
The Olallie isn't trying to be the fastest bike or the most extreme. It's designed to be the bike you reach for when you want to go somewhere with your friends and if you want to go down a set of stairs along the way, that’s totally cool too.
Painted With Care in Seattle
Each Olallie frame starts its journey in Taiwan, where it's carefully fabricated and ED coated for long-term protection. Then it makes its way to our in-house paint shop, where Brandon works his magic. Both Powder Coat and Cerakote options are available with minor price variations. We've developed a handful of colors that we think are neat, but bespoke options are always available if you're feeling particular about how you want the bike to look.
Bicycles are friends. And any companion of ours deserves to look good while making daily life a little more interesting. We also paint bars, headsets, bottle cages, cranks, and more.
